The Zionsville Optimist Club (ZOC) will have its third annual “Taste of Spring” Fine Wine & Craft Beer tasting event and silent auction on April 29. “This event is to raise funds for annual ZOC scholarships, the HAWK Foundation and local Zionsville 4-H Clubs” says Tim Ottinger, ZOC President and Co-Chair of the event.
This year’s event is April 29, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the Lions Club Building, 115 S Elm Street in Zionsville. Tickets are $25 during pre-sale and $30 at the door. Beverage partners include Grapevine Cottage, Moontown Brewing Company, Noble Order Brewing Company and Sun King Brewers
Two beneficiaries are The HAWK Foundation and Zionsville Area 4-H Clubs. The HAWK Foundation has grown from the idea to set up special events for families with special needs children.
Most people are aware of 4-H, having organized more that 100 years ago. The 4-H is now the nation’s largest youth development organization. Today, 4‑H serves youth in rural, urban, and suburban communities in every state. 4‑H’ers are tackling top issues from global food security, climate change, sustainable energy to childhood obesity and food safety.
4-H members apply for trips in the fall and summer. Trips include areas of learning in “STEM”- science, technology, engineering and math; healthy living, animal science, music, leadership, government, and more.
The Zionsville Optimist Club has been supporting local youth since 1981. Optimist International is one of the world’s largest service club organizations with 75,000 adult and youth members in 2,600 clubs in the United States and throughout the world. Carrying the motto “Bringing Out the Best in Kids,” Optimists conduct positive service projects that reach more than six million young people each year.
